Build Your Resume
By now we have created a general resume based on a par-
ticular path. This is the base of our soup. At Stage Six, we
add the ingredients, the garnishes.
I guess you can say that without Stage Six, you still have
nothing. It is this stage that turns you into a relevant pros-
pect.
Let’s suppose for a moment that an applicant who was a loan originator at a
previous position is now pursuing a customer service job, and therefore the
path
is Customer Service
. Let’s further imagine that the company this applicant is
targeting is asking for the following requirements in the job description:
Position Requirements:
• Team player with the ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Ability to negotiate with customers
• Tenacity to work in a fast-paced environment and the skills to resolve conficts
Remember this bullet? It is the one we used in an earlier example at Stage Five.
This bullet obviously does not have a chance:
• Was responsible for originating loans, selling the highest
ratios, and documenting loan docs. Achieved the highest marks
in mortgage sales.
This is the same bullet after we turned it
general
and focused it on the path.
This is better, but still not focused enough:
• Was responsible for handling large volumes of calls; a master in confict
resolution and achieving the highest marks in customer satisfaction.
