STEP FOUR
Build Your Resume
To help you fully correct the titles on your resume,
consider the following example:
The applicant in our example has worked for three companies and is not
using the title to demonstrate function. As a result, we are going to correct
the titles to refect function.
stage two:
the
Title
Customer Service Manager
To best communicate this applicant’s
functions while working for XYZ Mortgage as a loan
originator, we are going to change the title of “Lead
Loan Originator” to “Customer Service Manager,”
for the following reasons:
A. The path is customer service manager
B. The applicant was involved in customer service
and management activities as a lead originator.
Customer Service Manager
Next, we are going to change his title from Sales
Director to Customer Service Manager as well
while working for Jansen Force Corp, for the fol-
lowing reasons:
A. The path is customer service management
B. He was involved with management and
customer service activities as a sales director.
And while working for Caliber Inc, we are going to
change his title from Marketing Agent to Customer
Service Support to demonstrate his customer service
experience. Here the applicant was not involved with
customers. Therefore, we cannot change his title to
Customer Service because it suggests that he was di-
rectly involved with clients. Yet, we can communicate
customer service support to show that he participated
in activities that supported the customer service team.
As a marketing agent he produced marketing material
that allowed the team to enhance their communication
with customers.
Therefore we change the title to Customer Service
Support for the following reasons:
A. The path is customer-service oriented
B. He supported the customer service team
Customer Service Support
Now there is congruency
between the path and all
the titles.
