Asking for the appointment is easy. Simply, memorize the section below.
After answering the questions, use the following phrase to schedule the ap-
pointment.
YOU:
“I realize that the phone interview is important. It helps screen
qualifed applicants and narrow the list prior to the interview.
At the same time however, you probably agree that identifying
certain traits over the phone is just not possible.
I have carefully studied your company and compared my skills
(ones I have perfected over time) to the
requirements of this position. I have determined that my skills
are so closely aligned with the requirements for this position; I
am someone your company needs.”
Add specifcs here. You may say something like:
“I realize that you are expanding your market in Europe. I
bring the kind of foreign affairs experience to help your
company achieve its expansion plans as you move into the
European markets next year”.
Then add:
“If I did not think I can become an asset to your company, I would not waste my time
or yours. If we both agree that I possess some of basic skills your company needs, I ask
that we meet in person”.
