Experience tells hiring managers that most applicants are not who they
say they are at the interview. That is precisely the reason modeling cus-
tomary patterns everyone else follows is not the best way to stand out.
For instance, if you ask one hundreds applicants this question: “Why
should we hire YOU?” What do you think is the most common response?
Ninety nine percent respond with: “I am motivated, punctual, ambi-
tious….” The majority provide a list of adjectives hiring managers are
well accustomed to hearing from every other applicant. To stand out, your
response should NOT be a list of adjectives. This is the reason companies
ask behavioral interview questions. Your answers will provide the em-
ployer with an insight into your true character. Above are examples of
Behavioral questions. We prepare for this more diligently at Step Five
when we prepare for the interview.
